Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s wedding has been postponed after her father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a sudden heart attack on the morning of the ceremony. The wedding, which was scheduled to take place today at the Mandhana family farmhouse in Samdol, Sangli, had drawn widespread attention, with several teammates and close friends already present for the celebrations.

Smriti’s business manager, Tuhin Mishra, confirmed that Mr. Mandhana fell seriously ill while having breakfast at home. Initially, the family hoped it was a minor issue, but his condition worsened quickly. An ambulance was immediately called, and he was rushed to a private hospital in Sangli for urgent medical care.

According to hospital sources, Mr. Mandhana is currently stable and under observation, offering some relief to the family and well-wishers. Doctors have advised that he remain admitted for further monitoring.

Speaking to the media, Mishra explained the sequence of events, saying, “We thought it was something normal, but he was getting worse. So we decided not to take any risk. He is now under observation.” He added that Smriti, who shares a very close bond with her father, insisted on postponing the wedding until he fully recovers.

“She decided that until her father gets well, the marriage will be indefinitely postponed. The family is still in shock and wants him to get better soon,” he said.

Wedding organisers formally announced that the ceremony had been called off for now. Decorations at the venue are already being removed, and no new date for the wedding has been discussed yet. The families have urged the media and fans to respect their privacy as they focus on Mr. Mandhana’s recovery.

Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal were set to get married on November 23 in an intimate ceremony attended by close relatives, friends and members of the Indian women’s cricket team. Over the past few days, social media had been flooded with videos and photos from their colourful pre-wedding events, including a vibrant Haldi and Mehendi ceremony.
