Nitish Kumar will take oath tomorrow, November 20, as Bihar’s Chief Minister for a record tenth term, marking a historic moment in the state’s politics.

The swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for 11.30 am at the Gandhi Maidan in Patna, will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, senior NDA leaders, and multiple Union ministers.

Key cabinet positions

With the NDA’s return, the new Bihar government will feature a broad, inclusive cabinet reflecting its coalition strength. Samrat Choudhary of the BJP is set to be sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, with Vijay Kumar Sinha also likely to hold a deputy role.

Prominent BJP leaders such as Mangal Pandey, Nitin Nabin, Rajnish Kumar Singh, and Renu Devi are expected to take key positions in the cabinet.

The JD(U) will see experienced ministers like Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shrawan Kumar, Ashok Choudhary, and Leshi Singh in major roles.

Cabinet expansion will also accommodate representatives from other NDA allies: Raju Tiwari (LJP-RV), Santosh Kumar Suman (HAM), and Snehlata Kushwaha (RLM) are likely to be inducted, ensuring diverse social and regional representation.

Ministry composition and distribution

The new cabinet is expected to comprise around 35 ministers, distributing portfolios to major NDA partners. BJP is projected to have 15–16 ministers, while JD(U) will have substantial representation.

Allocation follows caste, regional, and experience considerations; for instance, Samrat Choudhary (Kushwaha, Tarapur), Vijay Kumar Sinha (Bhumihar, Lakhisarai), and Mangal Pandey (Brahmin, Siwan) among the BJP quota, with JD(U) featuring Vijay Kumar Chaudhary (Bhumihar, Sarairanjan), Bijendra Prasad Yadav (Yadav, Supaul), and Shrawan Kumar (Kurmi, Nalanda).
