Maharashtra Lok Adalat clears lakhs of cases

The National Lok Adalat held across Maharashtra on Saturday achieved significant results, according to the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA). More than seven lakh pre-litigation cases and two lakh post-litigation cases were settled in a single day.

In a massive relief to the state’s traffic system, over Rs 30 crore was collected from 3 lakh unpaid traffic challans during a special drive conducted from August 12 up to the Lok Adalat. Authorities revealed that nearly 37 lakh vehicles were linked to pre-litigation challan cases, with dues exceeding Rs 1,500 crore.

Surge in dog bite cases

Health officials in Kalyan and Dombivli civic limits reported 67 cases of stray dog bites in a single day on Sunday, raising concerns among residents. For weeks, the region has been recording sporadic incidents of dog bites, averaging a few per day.

Demand for naming of Navi Mumbai Airport after D B Patil

Thousands of people participated in a car rally from Bhiwandi to Navi Mumbai on Sunday, demanding that the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport be named after late farmer leader D B Patil.

The rally, led by NCP (SP) leader and Bhiwandi MP Suresh Mhatre, saw participation from members of the Agri-Koli community across Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai.

Samuhik Rath Yatra brings together Jain community

In a grand spectacle of devotion and unity, more than 10,000 devotees gathered in Mumbai on Sunday for the Samuhik Rath Yatra organised by the Shri Mumbai Jain Sangh Sangathan.

This historic event, considered one of the largest Jain processions globally, featured participation from over 200 Jain Sanghs, 400 monks and nuns, 2,400 pathshala students, 1,000 youth, 150 women’s groups, 15 traditional bands, and 55 decorated floats.

Mumbai Metro-3 Aqua Line to be fully operational by Dussehra

If all goes according to schedule, Mumbai residents may soon travel across the entire 33.5-km Metro-3 Aqua Line from Colaba to Seepz by Dussehra (October 2, 2025). The line has been opening in phases: the first stretch between Aarey Colony and BKC became operational in October 2024, followed by the second phase from BKC to Worli in May 2025.

The final leg, connecting Worli to Cuffe Parade, is under construction and expected to be completed by the festival deadline, marking a milestone in Mumbai’s public transport expansion.
