IndiGo has announced that it will give travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to passengers who were stuck for long hours during the massive flight disruptions between December 3 and 5.

The airline said the gesture is meant to support and compensate travellers who faced serious inconvenience after a widespread crew shortage led to long delays, cancellations, and heavy congestion at several airports across the country.

According to the airline, these vouchers can be used for any IndiGo flight for the next 12 months, giving passengers enough time to plan future travel. IndiGo added that this compensation is specifically for those who were “severely impacted” and had to wait for many hours due to the operational breakdown.

IndiGo stated that refunds for most cancelled flights during those three days have already been processed. For the remaining cases, the airline said the refunds should reflect in customers’ accounts soon.

It also explained that passengers who booked their tickets through travel portals, rather than directly with IndiGo, may face delays because the airline may not have complete contact details for them. Such customers have been advised to write to customer.experience@goindigo.in so that IndiGo can assist them quickly.

In a detailed statement, the airline repeated that taking care of passengers remains its “foremost priority.” It said that all required steps have been taken to issue refunds and support affected travellers. IndiGo also expressed regret that many passengers on December 3, 4 and 5 had to experience long waiting hours at different airports due to unexpected congestion.

The airline emphasised that the Rs 10,000 vouchers are in addition to the compensation already required under government rules. As per these guidelines, passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure are entitled to compensation between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000, depending on the scheduled flight duration. IndiGo said it will continue to follow these rules and provide the required payments.

Looking ahead, the airline said it is focused on restoring normal operations and rebuilding customer confidence. It
