In the Bihar Assembly election 2025, NDA is poised to get 133-159 seats and cross the majority mark comfortably, while the Mahagathbandhan is projected to win 70-90 seats in the polls, according to an exit poll by NDTV. Seven exit polls- Matrize, JVC, Chanakya Strategies, P-Marq, People’s Insight, Dainik Bhaskar and Peoples Pulse have predicted a sweep by the ruling NDA. Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraaj, which has made its electoral debut in the state assembly elections, may fail to win even a single seat, predicted the exit polls.

Multiple exit polls indicate a strong showing for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Bihar Assembly elections. Dainik Bhaskar predicts the NDA will win 145–160 seats, with the Mahagathbandhan (MGB) securing 73–91 seats and others 5–10 seats. People’s Insight projects NDA 133–148, MGB 87–102, Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) 0–2, and others 3–6. Matrize forecasts a clean sweep for the NDA with 147–167 seats, while People’s Pulse also suggests an NDA advantage, projecting 133–159 seats, MGB 75–101, and JSP 0–5.

Opinion polls for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections have forecast a decisive return to power for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), projecting a clear majority with between 130 and 160 seats. The RJD-led Mahagathbandhan, despite its promises of change and development, appears likely to fall short, securing only 70 to 100 seats.

According to the People’s Pulse survey, the NDA may win 133–159 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan is expected to secure 75–101. Jan Suraaj, the new party led by Prashant Kishor, is predicted to win between 0 and 5 seats, with other parties taking 2–8. The Dainik Bhaskar poll also gives the NDA a comfortable lead with 145–160 seats, the Mahagathbandhan trailing with 73–91, and others gaining up to 10. Similarly, DVC Research projects 137–152 seats for the NDA, 83–98 for the Mahagathbandhan, and 2–4 for Jan Suraaj.

Meanwhile, Bihar recorded a high voter turnout of 67.14 per cent in the final phase of polling, according to the Election Commission. Kishanganj witnessed the highest participation at 76.26 per cent, followed by Katihar (75.23 per cent) and Purnia (73.79 per cent), while Nawada saw the lowest at 57.11 per cent. The first phase had already seen a robust 65.08 per cent turnout, with all major parties claiming it reflected voter enthusiasm in their favour.

While People’s Insight predicted 133-148 seats for the NDA, People’s Pulse predicted 133-159, Matrize placed it between 147-167, Dainik Bhaskar gave 145-160 and JVC’s opinion poll predicted 135-150 seats.

In the last elections, the tally of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) had crashed to 43, a drop of more than 25 seats compared with the previous polls, which was primarily because of the revolt by Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party. This time, however, Paswan, whose party is now known as Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), is contesting as a junior NDA constituent.

In this phase, 3,7 crore voters are deciding the electoral fate of 1,302 candidates, including several ministers in the Nitish Kumar government. Bihar recorded the highest-ever voter turnout of over 67.14 per cent (provisional) in the second phase till 5 pm. Even phase 1 on November 6 saw a high turnout of over 65 per cent. The counting of votes will take place on November 14.
