Bihar elections 2025 dates: EC announces 2-phase polls on Nov 6 and 11, results on Nov 14

The countdown to the Bihar Assembly elections has officially begun. The Election Commission on Monday announced that the polls will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. The result will be declared on November 14. With this announcement, Bihar has entered full-fledged election mode, and political parties are already ramping up their campaigns.

The Bihar election 2025 is expected to be a contest between the ruling alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal United (JDU) and the Mahagathbandhan, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress party. Election strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor is also in the fray with his Jan Suraaj Party.

CEC Gyanesh Kumar urged the people of Bihar to check if their name appeared in the fresh electoral roll. The names can still be added, he said, till 10 days before the filing of nomination papers by candidates. The date of filing nomination papers has been set at October 17 and 20 for the two phases. In the press conference, CEC Kumar informed that the polling booths will be made accessible with ramps and wheelchairs. Webcasting will be done from all booths and aanganwadi workers will be present to help verify identity of burqa-clad voters. The Bihar elections will have over 7.42 crore total electors.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that 69 lakh voters have been deleted in Bihar’s voting list due to deaths, non-citizenship, migration, duplication. The break-up of those who names have been deleted is not available, he said. The trends and results of the Bihar elections can be viewed by the public through the ’ECI Results website’.
