Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a historic milestone by hoisting the sacred saffron flag atop Ayodhya’s grand Ram Temple, signifying the completion of its construction. The vibrant ceremony, held on November 25, drew thousands of devotees, dignitaries, and leaders.

The saffron flag, meticulously crafted to specifications set by Vaishnav saints and defense experts, stands 10 feet high and 20 feet long. It is adorned with spiritual symbols, a radiant Sun representing Lord Ram’s Suryavanshi lineage, the sacred ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree, each element signifying sacrifice, brilliance, and divinity. The moment also rekindled ancient tradition, as such a flag of Ayodhya’s Suryavanshi dynasty returned to its rightful place after thousands of years.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Ayodhya and visited several temples in the sprawling 2.7-acre complex, including the Mata Annapurna Mandir and Ram Darbar Garbh Grah. The auspicious flag-hoisting, or ‘Dhwajarohan’, was performed during an elevated window between 11:52 am and 12:35 pm, aligning with Vivah Panchami—a day sacred to the marriage of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. The event was attended by major dignitaries including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

In a notable gesture, around 7,000 special guests were invited, with representation from all sections of society, backward classes, scheduled castes, minority communities, temple workers, and donors. The planning committee ensured widespread participation, reinforcing the temple’s central place in India’s cultural heritage. Public celebrations included grand decorations, rangolis, and light shows throughout the city.

Security was heightened across Ayodhya, with tight arrangements at the Maharishi Valmiki Airport and live telecast set up at over 50 key locations, allowing devotees who could not be present inside the temple to witness the event in real-time. Restrictions on VIP darshans and revised darshan timings ensured crowd management and safety while enabling as many people as possible to experience the festivities.
