Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed a rally in Samastipur, Bihar, marking the start of the Bihar Assembly election campaign for the NDA.

Modi invoked the legacy of socialist icon Karpoori Thakur and promised that under NDA rule, Bihar would move ahead with new speed and development. He passionately urged the people to vote “Phir Ek Baar NDA Sarkar” to continue the trajectory of good governance and progress that has benefited the state.

Modi sharply criticised the opposition Mahagathbandhan, especially targeting the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress. He accused the RJD-led era of “Jungle Raj” that stalled Bihar’s development for decades and branded the opposition as “Lathbandhan,” a group motivated by power struggles and personal gain rather than the welfare of Bihar’s youth and citizens.

Modi took a pointed dig at the RJD’s election symbol, the lantern, by rhetorically asking if people still needed lanterns when they have mobile lights now, symbolizing modernity versus the past darkness.

He lauded the NDA government and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for lifting the state out of the development rut, citing schemes and welfare initiatives like the GST Bachat Utsav and other benefits reaching the people even as Chhath Puja festivities approached.

Modi reassured voters that the NDA would continue Karpoori Thakur’s vision of equality, opportunity, and dignity, emphasising inclusive development for the poor, backward, and deprived communities.

Addressing a large crowd despite the festive rush, Modi credited the people of Mithila and Bihar for their trust and assured them that Bihar’s progress would accelerate with NDA’s renewed mandate.
